Yes, the violets are an acquired taste. I live them and always have. The mints are perfect. I would compare the texture to Necco wafers. Just an all around great candyI am in love with these mints!!! I love themI wish I had taken a picture of the box as it arrived because that would have told the tale well. It was some thin, almost random box that was sealed with 10 of these loosely inside bouncing around. As you would expect, many were broken, there was sugar dust all over the box, etc. So if you want to buy these to GIFT them, I would look elsewhere. But if you just want to enjoy eating them, these are cheap and easier than trying to find at an actual candy store.The one flavor I really wanted was not in my orderI purchased this combo pack mainly to try the violet flavor and didn’t want to commit to a large quantity of one flavor…Ohmigawd, this is not for me! Some commenters mention a soap-like taste, and that is spot on. It’s too perfumey, but in a cheap Yardley type soap scent. My guess is that folks who love the violet flavor are also the same people that can spend an hour inside a Bath & Body Works or Kirkland’s…all scents combined is just pure sensory overload! I had to take them out of a drawer in my kitchen because even my pots and pans in the cabinet below started to reek of the candy scent after just an hour! Blech! I’ve already tossed the 2 violet packs. Guava and spearmint were good, haven’t tried the rest but will soon. I really want the lemon to be good, but my fear is it will be another intolerable soapy scent…Didn't care for the violet flavor.I read the reviews and had some expectations. I wanted to try this violet candy but I was concerned that the mint and peppermint would be overwhelming. While it is true the other smells permeated the package...it did not interfere with the taste. I left it out for a while and I don't think there is much effect.The violet...has a distinct taste and it has taken some getting used to, because my brain is programmed to think of soap when I smell the smell.I don't really like peppermint or mint so those were my least favorite. The lemon flavor was pretty good, but sometimes I did think of soap. My favorite flavor was the guava. Although, if you regularly are exposed to guava smells in your soap you might also imagine soap.I received three of the guava and only one of the violet (which is the one I really wanted).
